New End Decided - Wednesday, 6th May 2015

To help us decide a new school motto, we held an election on Wednesday, 6th May 2015.

Just like the General Election, all members of the school community (children, staff, parents and governors) were able to cast their vote at the New End polling station.  Ema and Rai were our Election Officers and were responsible for overseeing the voting and counting.

The following mottos were up for election:

    • Achieve to Succeed
    • Inspire, Believe, Achieve
    • Inspire, Create, Believe
    • See the future…it starts here
      • learN
      •      rEflect
        groW
      • hElp
          iNspire
         eDucate

The children in every group worked extremely hard on their campaigns at lunchtime and at home.  Posters were made and displayed to encourage everyone to vote for their motto.  The assemblies that they presented to children, staff, parents and governors were exceptional! All the children behaved in a very mature way – setting the example to all those politicians out there!

Congratulations to Aoi, Audrey, Benedicte, Billy, Clara, Erlisa, Ezra, Farhan, Joel R, Kay, Lara, Lauren, Lucille, Miku, Mollie, Noe, Omry, Oscar, Rosie, Scarlet, Tajdeen and Tyisha.

Five hundred and twenty votes were cast by children, parents, staff and governors throughout the day.

The motto with the most votes, and therefore New End's new motto was:

See the future…it starts here!

Congratulations New End! - January 2015

Just before the end of the Autumn Term we received a letter from David Laws, Minister of State for Schools, at the end of term informing us of two great achievements.

Firstly we have been awarded a Key Stage Two Pupil Premium Award.  This is due to the fact that we are one of the most improved schools in England in terms of the attainment and progress of those children entitled to the Pupil Premium funding.

Secondly, as a school we are proud that we have been in the top 10 percent of schools for value added over the last few years.  Value added looks at the progress children make over time in a school.  In 2014 New End is amongst the 100 top performing schools in England in terms of the progress all children make between Key Stage One and Key Stage Two.  This is a great achievement! As David Laws’ wrote;
“Your school is exceptionally effective in educating all your pupils.  I would like to congratulate your staff, governors, parents and pupils for their hard work and success.”

Congratulations to everyone – well done New End! It’s lovely to receive formal recognition and as always, we will continue to strive to do our best with your children.

Children from Nursery to Year Six were involved in our school's production of “The Jungle Book” in the final week of term.

During the first week back after half term, the children, staff and many parents enjoyed looking at our Big Draw Exhibition based around “Our World”.  The children’s work was amazing and everyone who visited commented on the variety and quality of the work displayed!

Due to our space limitations, sadly the exhibition was only on display for three days.  We are looking into alternative outside spaces to use next year so that the wonderful work can be appreciated for even longer!
